Remote Hypnosis via Videocall
Although some people assume that hypnosis can only be done in-person, it's actually possible to also do hypnosis remotely over the internet! Not only that, but remote hypnosis can work surprisingly well. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention; if you can focus your attention while at your computer, then you can be hypnotized remotely.
There are three main ways of doing remote hypnosis: videocall (with both video and audio), audio-only (phone), and text-only. As you might imagine, the less direct contact you have with the hypnotist, the harder it is to be hypnotized — and the harder it is for me to recognize your reactions. As a result, I only offer remote hypnosis over videocall, with both audio and video.
What Do You Need?
In order to get the best results out of a videocall hypnosis session, you need a few things:
- A reliable internet connection. However, if your connection drops briefly, it's not a big problem.
- A quiet, comfortable, private place where you can relax. Most people do remote hypnosis sessions with me while they are in their own home, or in a hotel room.
- A comfortable chair, couch, or bed to sit/lie on. You should be able to stay in one place for the duration of the hypnosis session, without your body getting uncomfortable. (Fidgeting is fine; a chair that is so uncomfortable that it bothers you is not fine.)
- A camera facing you, that you don't need to hold. Most laptops these days have a built-in camera above the screen specifically for doing videocalls; this works just fine. If you want to use a smartphone, you may do so only if you have the phone on a tripod, so you don't have to hold it in your hands.
- Enough light that I can see you. I need to be able to read your facial expressions and body language to see how the hypnosis is affecting you. The light should not be so bright that it makes you uncomfortable.
- Earbuds, headphones, or a headset. You want my voice coming directly into your ears. They should be comfortable enough to wear for the duration of the hypnosis session without falling out or bothering you. If they are battery powered, the battery should be fully charged before our call begins.
- A microphone, ideally embedded in your earbuds/headset. I need to be able to hear you speak, so we can have a two-way conversation. Some people speak very quietly while they are hypnotized, so it helps if the microphone is close to your face.
Videocall Platforms
There are many different platforms that offer videocalling. The ones that I usually work with are, in order of preference:
Note that I strongly prefer to use one of the first two options: Signal or FaceTime. Both of these platforms are end-to-end encrypted, allowing for private communication that others cannot snoop on. Discord and Google Meet are not encrypted, and therefore less private. If you prefer to use a different videocall platform, let me know and we can discuss it.
Privacy
I believe that privacy is important, and I want to respect the privacy of the people that I work with. Unfortunately, the modern digital world is not very friendly to privacy. Some people are afraid that their private, intimate moments can be exposed to others without their knowledge or consent, especially when those private moments take place over live video — and those fears are sadly justified.
I cannot take responsibility for the actions of others, but I can take responsibility for my own actions. With that in mind, I make the following promises regarding how I handle privacy for doing hypnosis sessions over videocalls:
- I never record hypnosis sessions with my clients, unless they specifically request that I do so. I request the same courtesy from you: please do not record our hypnosis sessions without my informed consent.
- I do not disclose sensitive information about our hypnosis session to others, unless I have your informed consent to do so. This includes any identifying information about you, as well as any content of our session that is erotic or highly emotional in nature.
- I take reasonable precautions to ensure that others cannot snoop on our videocalls. This includes using end-to-end encryption for our videocalls whenever possible.
I enjoy posting on social media about the hypnosis sessions that I do, but this is not required. I do not post about the majority of the hypnosis sessions I do, and I only post about a hypnosis session when I have consent to do so from the person that I worked with. When I do post about a hypnosis session, I never include personally identifying information.
Visible Faces
Some people do not want to expose their face on video. Considering the inherent privacy risks of doing so, this is a reasonable concern, and one that I completely understand.
However, in order to hypnotize you effectively, I need clear, continuous feedback from you about what is working well and what I should do differently. Everyone is different, and every person requires subtly different techniques to go into a deep hypnotic trance. The best way for me to get this clear, continuous feedback from you is by watching your facial expressions while I'm hypnotizing you.
As a result, you are required to clearly show your face when I hypnotize you. If you are unwilling to clearly show your face, then I am unwilling to work with you. I will not attempt to hypnotize someone who cannot give me the feedback I need to do a good job.
However, you are not required to show your face for an intake session with me. The purpose of the intake session is for us to get to know each other a bit, and to build trust and rapport. I fully expect that you will use this time to decide whether you feel you can trust me, including trusting me enough to show your face. Of course, if you decide after the intake session that you still are not comfortable with showing me your face, then there is no obligation to book a hypnosis with me.
What if the call drops?
The internet is unreliable, and videocalls can drop out at any time due to connection problems. Some people fear that if they are hypnotized over a videocall, and the call drops, they will be unable to recover.
Fortunately, there is no risk of getting "stuck" in a hypnotic trance, even if the call drops in the middle of one. If I hypnotize you over a videocall, and the call suddenly drops, there are two possible ways for the situation to resolve:
If the connection problem is brief, I will call you back immediately. Even while you are deeply hypnotized, you will have some awareness of the situation: the voice you've been listening to has suddenly stopped speaking, and instead you hear the sound of an incoming videocall. You will be able to recognize what's going on, and accept the incoming videocall. Once we are reconnected, I will make sure that everything is OK, and then resume the hypnosis session. The disruption is minimal, and it's very easy to mentally return to that state of trance. It's similar to how if something briefly wakes you up in the middle of the night, it's usually very easy to go back to sleep quickly; by morning, you may not even remember that you woke up in the middle of the night.
If the connection problem lasts longer, you will slowly come out of trance on your own. You were listening to my voice, and suddenly it's gone; gradually, you will become more and more aware that the situation has changed, and this awareness will bring you out of trance. Coming out of trance this way is a disorienting experience; you may be confused and upset for a little while. But while this experience is unpleasant, it is not actually harmful.
When it is possible to reconnect, we will do so. Talking about the experience makes it easier to process, so we will discuss what happened. Then we will plan another time to try this hypnosis session, if you are still interested in doing so.
Having a call drop in the middle of a hypnosis session is never a good experience, so I encourage you to do what you can to prevent it from happening. Make sure that all your devices are either plugged in to power, or have a full battery at the start of our call: this includes both computer/phone and your earbuds/headset. If you are on wifi, and your home router needs to be restarted after awhile, you could restart the router just before our call.
It's also a good idea for me to have your username/contact information on a second videocall platform, just in case. If the connection problem is due to the platform, rather than your internet connection, then I can immediately call you back on a different platform. For example, if we are calling on Discord, and Discord suddenly stops working, I can try calling you on Signal instead. Hopefully this won't be necessary, but it's good to be prepared!
